CrowdStrike to acquire Fiddler AI and Dreadnode for a combined $495 million

CrowdStrike to acquire Fiddler AI and Dreadnode for a combined $495 million

„CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. announced two major deals this quarter that are expected to fundamentally change the company’s approach to artificial intelligence (AI) security. The acquisitions — Fiddler AI Inc. and Dreadnode Inc. — are valued at up to $495 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, with Fiddler AI accounting for about four-fifths of the deal.

The initiative was introduced alongside a product update to Falcon Guardian. Falcon Guardian is CrowdStrike’s platform for monitoring and protecting enterprise IT environments from cyber threats, including AI agent activity. The acquisitions enable the deployment of two additional components: the Fiddler AI platform for risk testing of AI agents, and Dreadnode technology, which simulates cyberattacks to uncover vulnerabilities.

Fiddler AI – Pre-launch Risk Testing

Artificial intelligence testing laboratory with computers

Fiddler AI, based in Palo Alto, California, offers a platform that allows developers to test AI agents before deploying them. The system detects threats such as malicious AI-generated code and training data leaks. Fiddler AI can combine different models and configurations to find the least risky option. If the agent still generates incorrect prompt responses, the platform allows you to analyze the solution flow and identify the faulty processing step.

Once deployed, Fiddler AI uses its Centor models to filter out malicious query responses and block harmful output. According to the company, Centor adds less than 80ms of latency to the queries it reviews, keeping performance reasonably high. According to founder and CEO Krishna Gade, when AI security and monitoring come together, companies have the ability to understand agent actions, intervene when they deviate, and explain why.

Dreadnode – simulated attacks and vulnerability assessment

Unlike Fiddler AI, Dreadnode focuses on active simulations. The company uses more than 100 breach tactics to expose vulnerabilities in MCP servers and other components used by AI agents. The collected data is sorted by severity, allowing administrators to address the most critical issues first.

CrowdStrike plans to integrate Dreadnode technology into Falcon Guardian, enabling it to map AI agents across an enterprise’s technology landscape and ensure they meet cybersecurity standards. Falcon Guardian will use vulnerability data collected by Dreadnode to generate recommendations for security improvements.

AI Kill Switch – a new tool for rapid response

Along with the acquisitions, CrowdStrike introduced the AI Kill Switch, a feature that allows an administrator to manually stop an AI agent when it exhibits risky behavior. The tool can disable the agent’s network access and prevent it from restarting. Michael Devins, director of product marketing, described the tool as „a solution for quickly terminating dangerous AI activity when a risk arises.“.

„AI Kill Switch is just the first step towards a broader implementation that will coordinate the application of agent restrictions across endpoints, identities, cloud environments, SaaS application and browser ecosystems.

What do these acquisitions mean for the market?

While CrowdStrike has not yet disclosed the exact terms of the acquisition, sources indicate that the deal will be paid for mostly in cash and some in stock with vesting conditions. Fiddler AI is valued at about $400 million, according to the Wall Street Journal, with Dreadnode accounting for the remainder.

„Decrypt's announcement indicates that the acquisition is expected to close at the end of the quarter of fiscal year 2027, which ends on January 31, 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.

These moves signal a growing focus from major cybersecurity companies on protecting AI technologies as autonomous agents become increasingly important in enterprise IT infrastructures. By integrating Fiddler AI and Dreadnode solutions, CrowdStrike aims to offer a comprehensive approach, from risk identification to direct intervention when an AI agent poses a threat.

Future prospects

With the Falcon Guardian update and AI Kill Switch, CrowdStrike hopes to strengthen its position in a market where AI security is increasingly being focused. The acquisitions will give the company the ability to not only monitor and analyze agent activity, but also proactively protect enterprises from potential vulnerabilities that can arise from misconfigured or compromised AI systems.

While there is currently no public data on specific customer cases or implementation timelines, these acquisitions demonstrate a strategic approach to AI security and could become an important milestone in the cybersecurity ecosystem.
